Olá, Teacher G here, tudo bom?
Uhu CHALLENGE time! You guys asked and " seu desejo é uma ordem" (your wish is my command) I´ve got some replies and some of you guys asked for this challenge, this is a difícil(difficult) one.
Let's break it down: EXCEÇÃO x – The “x” is a big problem for foreigners learning Portuguese (and also for some native speakers), as it can be pronounced in five different ways: with the sound of “ch”, “s”, “z”, “ ss" or "ks". In addition, there are numerous exceptions to the rules of its pronunciation, which makes it even more complicated. In this example, when paired with “c”, the “x” has no phonetic value, and the “x” works like “s”. The most recommended thing for anyone learning our language is to consult a dictionary with phonetic transcription to make sure of each case. ç – It is always pronounced with an “s” sound.
ão – A quite difficult sound to be reproduced by non-native speakers, it is pronounced in a very nasal way, something close to “aum” AMANHÃ ã – It´s pronounced as “an”, also in a nasal way.
nh – Here the “n” is pronounced the same way as if it were at the end of a word, while the silent “h” works as a kind of pause between the “n” and the vowel that follows it.
LAGARTIXA x – As already explained above, the “x” can be pronounced in several ways. Here's the sound of "ch" TROCADILHO
lh – The “h” after the “l” should be pronounced as a very short “i”.
CABELEIREIRO - This one is also difícil for native speakers, there´s nothing special about it. It's how the sounds are sequentially laid out. Então... (so) HOMEWORK time 1- Tell me, which one was the most DIFÍCIL for you? I will reveal mine... com certeza(def) CABELEIREIRO is a tough one for me.
