What?! Untranslatable?!

E aí, tudo bom? Teacher G here, how is your week going?

So... (então) today I brought to you one of my fav words in Portuguese. This word has NO translation in any other language, is strictly Portuguese. This word is super powerful and means a lot to us. We use it ALL the time for positive scenarios and negative ones. Can you guess (adivinhar) what word(palavra) am I talking about?

SAUDADE!

I love this palavra, let me give you some examples: -Eu estou com saudade do meu pai.

-Nossa, que saudade do Brasil.

-Você está com saudade da comida do Brasil? -Eu estou com saudade dos meus amigos.

Notice that SAUDADE is a noun (substativo) and can flex to its plural format SAUDADES, but if you really want to sound like a native here is my piece of device: We tend to conjugate nouns(informally and against the grammar rules) to make them more appropriate to our speech, examples:

-Estou saudosa

This means Im feeling SAUDADE) about something or someone but in a general speech. I hope you liked it! It's my favorite one! And of course, don't take too long without checking your Portuguese lessons here, otherwise, you will be SAUDOSO.
